Did he collect anything for that impromptu thereapy session? Though you/we are probably not far off in the Britney Spears fan count (Amy Winehouse is another matter): Most of the fans she had in her youthful days have grown up (as do we all) and out of Britney worship, and I doubt that her later/latest escapades have won her any new ones.Įxcept, perhaps, Dr. I am glad that you took my comment in the (light) matter as was intended, Dameon. More than anything else, music is still all about entertainment and who am I to say what should and shouldn't entertain another." I actually believe in a fans right to love anyone they so choose. The reference was made about the two artists and not their fans. Thanks!! I guess that in some way, by defending this person (Spears - Oh G*d, I am getting sick), I have caused some of my few remaining brain cells to completely die. I was wondering when someone would laughingly slap me upside the head for that one. "I did notice my faulty English on that comment after I posted it.
She has time to make a good album, but up until now, the way things look, nope, no HOF possibilities. This is one of the areas she falls short following Madonna, who like Spears, was the biggest female name for their times-it may not be fair to compare her to Madonna, who is the template for pop over the last two decades+ and in a league of her own- but, it's a point to show that Spears' work just doesn't cut it. It's not like her music/work on the whole was the soundtrack of an era, defined the times, like others' have for their eras. There was never anything special about the music, even from the start- she was Max Martin's female answer to Backstreet Boys and N Sync (Martin was a one-trick production pony at the time if there ever was one). She is not a ghreat artist by any stretch of the imagination, and, seriously, I bet those on the HOF committee (and possible future HOF people) laugh whenever they see anyone go on about how she would be deserving of such a thing. Oh my- to those saying she should be inducted- are you aware that the girl has yet to make a truly great album and only has less than a handful of notable singles? None of her albums are acclaimed, and, let's face it- if an album is well-revered by many out there, then chances are it's pretty strong. She deserves to be inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame! They even gave her a star on the walk of fame and she won a Grammy award besides several other awards. She is a wonderful singer, with a beautiful unique voice, with lots of talent, and by the way she can play an instrument (the piano)! Of course this is just an opinion, just like any one else's, but she wouldn't be on top if it wasn't for her music. My point is, stay out of her privat life and focus on her career and talent. This is why it is called tabloid, because it is NOT true! Haters will always think that Britney Spears is so successful just bedcause of the so-called scandals/tabloids, even though we all know that is not why. They make her do stupid things or even make up stories about her. Could you imagine being stalked by about 200 people every day? I don't think so. And if she wants to hang out with her friends in a club, well that is her business, but that doesn't mean that she is gonna get drunk or cannot sing. It is not Britney herself that is saying "Put me on the front page", "Take pictures of me 24/7", or "Invade my privat life". Everybody makes mistakes and does stupid things in their privat life, but when Britney does something like that, people make it seem like it is so outrageous. She is one of the biggest singers and entertainers on this planet. Yes, I think she deserves to be inducted. Proves that personality & sexy looks go a long way. I'm an R&B enthusiast, and even I can't deny Britney's influence, despite her obvious lack of any sort of natural talent. Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore, O-Town, 98 Degrees and many others also experienced success that is somewhat due to Britney's breakthrough.Īnd all this comes from a non-fan of her music. She almost single-handedly ushered in the revival of teen pop in the late '90s, and she helped make it possible for *NYSYNC, Christina Aguilera & the Backstreet Boys to sell major records in the U.S., and those bands came out before her. No matter your distaste for her, you cannot deny that Britney's been a dynamic influence. The R&R Hall website also talks about "significance & importance." I'm not a fan of hers at all, but she's got some pretty hot records ("Toxic" being the best yet). She clearly hijacked her routines from those 2. She's a fantastic performer, but that credit goes to Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson. If you're a fantastic singer, then 9 times out of 10, you'll have my buck when you release an album. I'm a guy that's all about great singers.
Here's how I feel about Britney being inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame:
